Case Study - Somerset House Trust (Commercial Real estate)

This iconic wood panelled movie theatre was built to provide exclusive screenings of movies and has been used by BAFTA and other prestigious organisations for private events and ticketed exclusive screenings. Originally built to show film, the Screening Room was upgraded to show digital content some years ago and inevitably the technology needed to be updated to current standards of high resolution video and surround sound.

I arranged consultation workshops with the various stakeholders to ensure that the priorities for investment in new technologies were clear as the Trust were keen to ensure that this valuable asset could be used in a variety of ways.

The media companies need high quality, technically sophisticated equipment, whilst the educational and commercial events users are keen to have systems which are simple to use, very resilient and reliable.  For all users it is important to have a simple control system to adjust volume settings supporting a range of radio microphones, lighting and inputs from several video sources. This allows non-technical users in the room to accommodate a range of different types of screenings, speakers, plenary sessions as well as straight forward business presentations.

I prepared specifications and ran a tender process which procured and excellent solution from a leading supplier.  Arising from this process, the Trust has invested in state of the art Laser projection equipment and high quality 5.1 sound equipment.

They are now able to utilise this asset much more and secure additional revenue from offering this enhanced facility to the growing tennant community for their larger meetings and video conferences.
